In response to the development of artificial intelligence technology, the United Nations recently announced the establishment ofArtificial Intelligence Advisory Group (AI Advisory Body) to study the risks, development opportunities, and related ethical governance directions brought about by artificial intelligence technology.
This organization was initiated by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and is composed of 39 experts from around the world from different genders, technical fields and backgrounds. It is expected to provide recommendations on the risks and challenges brought by artificial intelligence technology and related development opportunities by the end of this year. It will also discuss how to use artificial intelligence to promote the Sustainable Development Goals.
In addition to the United Nations, government agencies including the United States, Japan, and China have all put forward opinions on the application and development of artificial intelligence technology, and have conceived relevant regulatory methods to prevent such technology from causing greater problems and impacts. At the same time, they also emphasized the hope that artificial intelligence can be used fairly and responsibly, and not be controlled by specific companies or institutions to cause discrimination and other problems.
At present, the application of artificial intelligence technology is generally believed to have the potential to cause inappropriate information dissemination and even increase information bias, discrimination, privacy issues, etc. It may also lead to fraud, human rights infringement, and thus pose risks such as undermining the current system and reducing social cohesion.
