The US government currentlyWe are seeking volunteer expertsWe hope to explore how to seize the current opportunities for the development of artificial intelligence and address the concerns and challenges arising from automatically generated artificial intelligence technology.
As more and more companies and technology companies invest in the development of automatically generated artificial intelligence, it is difficult to guarantee that such technology will not cause any harm and may even cause more problems. Therefore, in addition to requiring these companies to propose corresponding regulations and improvement methods, the US government also plans to formulate management methods to avoid the uncontrollable potential risks brought by such technology while embracing the development of artificial intelligence technology.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo explained that the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is establishing a public working group on artificial intelligence technologies to help develop guidelines that companies can follow in the field of artificial intelligence to combat the potential risks behind automatically generated artificial intelligence.
This working group will be composed of volunteer experts in relevant technical fields from government agencies and private enterprises, and will cooperate through online collaboration. In the initial stage, it will discuss the basic framework of relevant risk management methods, ensure the relevant management methods of artificial intelligence technology while supporting the development of artificial intelligence technology, and the long-term goal is to explore how to use artificial intelligence technology to solve health, climate change and environmental related problems.
The Biden administration hopes to use artificial intelligence technology to improve issues including economic, national security and social risks, so it hopes to minimize the potential harm caused by automatically generated artificial intelligence through the newly established working group.
