The US and British governmentsAnnouncement of the signing of a memorandum of cooperation, will jointly create artificial intelligence technology security testing methods to ensure the safety of artificial intelligence operations, and exchange ideas in the fields of technology research and information.
Prior to this, the European Union had proposed an artificial intelligence bill, requiring domestic businesses to comply with relevant regulations when proposing artificial intelligence solutions. Japan has also begun to require that artificial intelligence technology should have relevant management methods. In June last year, the US government also began to seek volunteer experts to form a working group to address the hidden concerns of automatically generated artificial intelligence technology.
The memorandum of cooperation signed with the British government will see both sides develop a testing method for artificial intelligence technology and exchange ideas in areas such as technology research and information to ensure the safe operation of artificial intelligence.
The British government established an artificial intelligence security research institute in November last year and invested 11 million pounds in February this year. It plans to set up nine artificial intelligence research centers and will also assist artificial intelligence regulators in technical training.
UK Science and Technology Minister Michelle Donelan stated that the next generation of AI models and technologies, expected to be rolled out over the next year, has the potential to transform market developments, necessitating prompt responses to prevent further disruptions. US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo noted that collaboration with the UK government is expected to accelerate the development of solutions for both sides to address potential risks associated with AI.
