Earlier this year, OpenAI, Softbank, Oracle and other industry players, along with the White House, jointly announced the establishment of an artificial intelligence data center project called "Stargate." The project will also include additional funding from MGX, an artificial intelligence investment company based in the United Arab Emirates. The project is expected to spend $4 trillion over the next four years to build OpenAI's new artificial intelligence infrastructure.Bloomberg NewsThe report stated that the project is located in Abilene, Texas, and is expected to install 2026 sets ofNVIDIA GB200 GPU accelerator.
The GPU accelerators are expected to be installed in phases, with the first wave of 1 units expected to be installed this summer. The data center in Abilene, Texas, will be designed in collaboration between OpenAI and Oracle, with Oracle responsible for managing the supercomputer once it is operational.
However, neither Oracle nor NVIDIA responded to the report.
In addition to the Abilene data center in Texas, OpenAI and Softbank are currently exploring more suitable locations for data center construction in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Oregon, including Salt Lake City as a possible candidate location.
In the "Stargate" project, OpenAI will be responsible for operations, while Softbank will be responsible for finances. Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son will serve as chairman. Oracle, Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA, and OpenAI itself will all be technical partners in this new AI infrastructure, integrating AI technology resources from multiple parties to promote higher computing power performance, while also sharing AI infrastructure computing resources with each other.
