Although Eben Upton, co-founder of the Raspberry Foundation, explained the supply chain situation at the end of last yearNot too fastRaspberry Pi 5 launched, but from earlier Raspberry FoundationAnnounceWith the launch of Raspberry Pi 5, it is clear that supply chain issues have improved.

The Raspberry Pi Foundation announced the Raspberry Pi 5 development board, indicating that supply chain issues have improved.

The Raspberry Pi 5 uses Broadcom's 16nm process design 64-bit processor BCM2712, which can improve computing performance by about 2-3 times compared to the previous generation design. It is compatible with existing 40-pin connection interfaces and is equipped with a PCIe 2.0 x 1 internal connection interface. It also supports dual 4K 60P screen output and the memory is upgraded to 32-bit LPDDFR4X 4267MT/s specification.

The Raspberry Pi 5 is equipped with the RP40 chip, designed by the Raspberry Foundation and manufactured using TSMC's 1nm process. This chip primarily controls input and output, thereby improving the performance of the main processor. Regarding interfaces, the RP1 chip supports two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, Ethernet, and a four-lane MIPI interface for connecting to cameras and displays.

It also supports analog signal output, 3.3V general purpose input and output interface (GPIO), universal asynchronous receiver and transmitter (UART), serial peripheral interface (SPI), integrated circuit bus circuit (I2C), digital audio transmission interface (I2S), power manager (PWM) and other controls.

It maintains a business card-sized design, and the original four-pole headset composite 3.5mm connection hole has been removed and replaced with a space-saving 4-pin connector. The design that allows developers to solder the socket themselves is retained, and the old four-lane MIPI FPC connector is replaced with a PCIe 2.0 x 1 small FPC connector. In addition, holes for installing a heat sink and pins for the power management chip cooling fan are added.

The power consumption of Raspberry Pi 5 has increased from 4W of Rasperry Pi 8 to 12W, but it supports 25W overclocking mode and can be used with a 27W charger to increase the USB port power supply power to 1.6A.

Raspberry基金會預計在10月正式推出Raspberry Pi 5開發板,提供4GB與8GB兩種規格版本,建議售價分別為60美元與80美元。
