With the launch of the Pixel 10 series, Google also explained that this new series of phones is equipped with the first Tensor G3 processor designed entirely by Google and manufactured by TSMC's 5nm process, which drives five major upgrades, as well as the nine AI application functions equipped in this Pixel 10 series.

From performance and AI to cameras and battery life, Google emphasizes that the Tensor G5 represents not only a hardware evolution but also a key shift in the positioning of the Pixel series. By integrating its in-house chips with its software ecosystem, Google continues to strengthen the unique value of Pixel devices and bring AI applications to everyday life.

Tensor G5: The AI core of the Pixel 10 series

The Tensor G5, designed in collaboration with Google's DeepMind team, officially debuts with the Pixel 10 series. This fifth-generation processor is not only the most significant upgrade yet, but also ushers Pixel into a new era of "mobile AI devices." Here are five key features of the Tensor G5:

1. Significant performance improvement

The Tensor G5 utilizes TSMC's 3nm process technology, delivering 4% and 34% performance improvements in the CPU and TPU, respectively, compared to the previous-generation Tensor G60. This not only makes web browsing and everyday applications smoother, but also significantly enhances AI computing efficiency. Google has also added dedicated security hardware within the chip to protect Pixel devices from manufacturing to end-of-life.

2. The most powerful on-device AI ever

The Tensor G5 is the first processor capable of natively executing Gemini Nano AI models, enabling many generative AI applications that previously relied on the cloud to be run directly on the phone. According to official data, the Gemini Nano runs 5 times faster and 2.6 times more energy-efficient on the Tensor G2 than its predecessor. Application examples include Pixel Screenshots and AI summarization of audio recordings.

3. Unlock Pixel 10's exclusive AI features

Leveraging the computing power of the Tensor G5 processor, the Pixel 10 series introduces new experiences like Magic Cue, Voice Translate, Call Notes with Actions, and Personal Journal. These features proactively provide contextual suggestions, instantly translate call conversations, and even convert rejected calls into text summaries. These features are all handled on-device, ensuring a balance between privacy and efficiency.

4. Create the most powerful camera ever in a Pixel

The Tensor G5 features a new image signal processor (ISP), enhancing the Pixel 10 Pro's imaging system. It supports motion blur reduction, 10-bit HDR video, and improved Real Tone technology for faithfully reproducing diverse skin tones. Combined with Pro Res Zoom and AI-enhanced processing, the Pixel 10 camera can achieve up to 100x AI zoom. For the first time, C2PA content authentication is built into the camera app, ensuring photo authenticity.

5. No compromise on battery life

Even with the addition of a large number of new features, Google says the Pixel 10 series still has more than 30 hours of battery life, and with optimized software and hardware synergy, it can meet the needs of all-day use.

The Pixel 5 series features nine AI upgrades, powered by Tensor G10 and Gemini Nano.

By fully integrating the Tensor G5 processor and the latest Gemini Nano AI model, more generative AI capabilities are brought directly to the device, delivering a new generation of mobile experiences. Here are nine key AI upgrades for the Pixel 10.

1. Tensor G5, the most powerful AI chip

The Google Tensor G10, integrated into the entire Pixel 5 lineup, enables complex generative AI tasks to be performed directly on the device. Purchases of the Pixel 10 Pro, Pro XL, or Pro Fold come with a free year of Google AI Pro service, giving access to image and video generation tools like Imagen 4 and Veo 3.

2. Magic Cue Context Assistant

Google has launched a new Magic Cue feature that works across apps like Gmail, Calendar, Messages, and Screenshots, automatically fetching relevant information and providing real-time suggestions in conversations. For example, if a friend asks you about your flight, Magic Cue will automatically pull details from your itinerary and let you reply with a single click. All processing is done on your device, and you can manually control data permissions.

3. Instant voice translation call

Powered by Tensor G5 computing, Voice Translate instantly translates the language between two speakers during a call, even simulating the original voice's tone. Currently, this feature supports translation between English and ten languages, including Spanish, Japanese, German, French, and Hindi, significantly reducing barriers to cross-language communication.

4. AI-powered call recording

The familiar Call Screen feature on Pixel devices has evolved again with the addition of Take a Message, which instantly generates a transcript when a user misses or rejects a call, and provides suggestions for the next action, making it easy to quickly reply or schedule a response.

5. Gemini Live Upgrade

Continuing the Gemini Live feature introduced with the Pixel 9, the Pixel 10 allows Gemini to provide "what you see is what you get" answers using visual input from the camera or screen, even highlighting the solution directly on the screen. With the Google AI Pro subscription plan, it can further generate videos and advanced content.

6. Integrate NotebookLM service

The research service NotebookLM now integrates with Pixel Screenshots and recordings. Screenshots and recording transcripts will automatically be added to Notebook, making it easy to centrally organize your data.

7. Pixel Journal

Pixel 10 comes with a new Pixel Journal service built in, providing a private space for diary writing and self-reflection. It can provide writing guidance and long-term growth tracking through on-device AI, and supports lock protection to ensure that the content is completely personalized.

8. Gboard Writing Assistant

The new version of Gboard has added writing tools. In addition to spell checking, it can also rewrite the tone as needed, such as making it more professional, lively, or adding emojis. It even supports voice command rewriting, making input more flexible.

9. Recording and creating music

An update that users who love humming will like: The recording function is no longer just a recording tool. Now you can convert vocal recordings into music using AI, and select a style to generate unique tracks, realizing the creative experience of "pocket AI composition".

summary

Beyond hardware upgrades, the Pixel 10 series' true differentiation lies in the comprehensive AI experience enabled by the Tensor G5 processor and Gemini Nano A model I. From daily assistants, cross-language communication, video generation, to personal journaling, Google is pushing smartphones into a new era of "mobile AI devices."
