In mid-March this year, two models equipped with electronic paper displays were announced.New smartwatchLater, Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky saidThe Pebble brand trademark has been successfully retrieved, and announced the final actual design of the Pebble Time 2 smart watch created by the new team Core Designs.
The successful reclaiming of the Pebble brand trademark means that the previously announced Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 smartwatches can officially carry the Pebble brand name.
The Pebble Time 2 smartwatch, whose design was announced this time, is equipped with a 1.5-inch, 64-color e-paper screen that supports touch operation, a metal frame and a heart rate sensor, and is advertised to have a battery life of up to 30 days, thereby improving the problem of short battery life of smartwatches.
Compared to the early prototype design, the final version features a slightly tweaked bezel curve. The up and down buttons on the right side are angled, no longer aligned with the center button, for more intuitive operation. The watch itself weighs approximately 32.5 grams, and with the strap, approximately 48 grams.
The front, back, and buttons are all made of 316 stainless steel, and feature multi-color RGB LED backlighting, a compass sensor, and a screw-on back cover. Furthermore, the Pebble Time 2 has a second microphone built in, which is expected to support ambient noise cancellation in the future.
In the previously announced specifications, it has been confirmed that it will be equipped with a 22mm wide quick-release strap, a flat tempered glass watch mirror, pedometer and sleep tracking functions, as well as a built-in loudspeaker, vibration reminder and waterproof design.
The Pebble Time 2 will be available in four color options, though the specific color scheme has yet to be finalized. The team will notify all pre-order users once the details are finalized. The suggested retail price is currently $225, with shipments expected to begin in December of this year. The more affordable Pebble Duo 12 went on sale in July for $2.
