The Nothing Phone 3a Lite debuts, continuing the minimalist Glyph Light design, 5000mAh battery, and triple-lens camera.
It features a Dimensity 7300 Pro chip, but the potential inclusion of advertisements in the future software has raised concerns.

Nothing recently announced the fourth model in its Phone 3 series—the Nothing Phone 3a Lite. As the most entry-level model in the series, the Nothing Phone 3a Lite brings Nothing's unique design language and balanced hardware specifications to a more affordable price point.

However, considering Nothing's recent confirmation that it will introduce pre-loaded apps and locked screen ads on its non-flagship devices, there may be a trade-off in terms of cost-effectiveness.

Design: Simplified Glyph Light, Panda Glass back cover

The Nothing Phone 3a Lite retains Nothing's signature transparent design elements, but has been simplified to match its starting price of €249. The body features an aluminum alloy internal frame paired with a Panda Glass back cover, which Nothing describes as having an "asymmetrical, transparent appearance with a nano-coating that creates a perfect balance between matte and glossy finishes." It is available in black and white.

To retain the Glyph system's features while controlling costs, the Nothing Phone 3a Lite doesn't feature a full Glyph light strip. Instead, it uses a single LED notification light called "Glyph Light." This LED supports the "Flip to Glyph" function (only the light illuminates when the phone is face down), can stay lit for specific contacts or app notifications, and also serves as a camera countdown timer. Users can also customize the light sequence for incoming calls.

In addition, the phone retains the "Essential Key," a multi-functional physical button that is standard on the Phone 3 series, and has an IP54 dust and water resistance rating.

Specifications: Dimensity 7300 Pro, 5000mAh battery, 120Hz AMOLED display

In terms of core specifications, the Nothing Phone 3a Lite is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G chip. Nothing claims that its performance is better than the Dimensity 7200 used in last year's Nothing Phone 2a. The phone is also equipped with a liquid cooling system and offers 8GB of memory, with 128GB or 256GB of storage options.

The battery is a major highlight of the Nothing Phone 3a Lite, equipped with a large 5000 mAh battery. Official data states it can support 22 hours of YouTube playback or 9.5 hours of gaming. For charging, it supports 33W wired fast charging, reaching 50% in approximately 20 minutes.

For the display, it uses a 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2392 (387 PPI), supporting a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and a 1000Hz touch sampling rate. The peak HDR brightness can reach 3,000 nits, and the outdoor brightness is 1,300 nits.

Camera: 50MP main lens leads the triple-camera system

In terms of camera, the Nothing Phone 3a Lite features a triple-lens rear camera system, including a 50MP main lens with a 1/1.57-inch Samsung sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a macro lens. The rear camera supports up to 4K 30FPS video recording. The front camera is 16MP.

Software: Nothing OS 3.5 and Potential Advertising Concerns

The Nothing Phone 3a Lite comes pre-installed with the Nothing OS 3.5 operating system based on Android 15, and the official promise is that it will be upgraded to Nothing OS 4.0 in the first half of 2026.

As mentioned at the beginning, software strategy may be a potential concern. Nothing has confirmed earlier that its future strategy will include a feature called "Lock Glimpse," a feature that carousels and locks the screen wallpaper, which will contain text links leading to external content (provided by the Chinese advertising company Boyuan Information Technology), essentially a disguised screen-locking advertisement.

While Nothing states that Lock Glimpse is off by default in the current Nothing OS 4.0 Beta version, whether this policy will change in the future remains to be seen. Furthermore, Nothing has confirmed that it will pre-install third-party apps (such as Instagram) on its phones. While this is common practice among Android manufacturers, it contradicts its touted philosophy of "clean, bloat-free software." If these cost-driven business decisions continue to expand, they could impact the value proposition of Nothing phones.

Pricing and Availability

The Nothing Phone 3a Lite is available for purchase in Europe starting today through the Nothing website.

• 8GB RAM + 128GB storage version: €249 / £249
• 8GB RAM + 256GB storage version: €279 / £279

As for the pricing and launch plans in the United States and other markets (including Taiwan), these will be announced by Nothing later.
