The NFC Forum earlier developedNew operating function definition, will enable NFC devices to be able toExecute multiple operations simultaneously.
Compared to the current NFC sensing process, which only corresponds to a single function at a time, the new design proposed by the NFC Forum will be able to handle multiple operations in a single sensing process. For example, when completing a payment through an NFC device, a digital receipt can be received on the mobile phone at the same time, and the mobile phone can be used to log in to the account to accumulate related consumption points, etc.
The NFC Forum's examples include the ability to verify age and identity via mobile phone when purchasing alcoholic beverages, or to access relevant information during the transaction. When used on public transportation, it can automatically confirm fares and discounts.
However, since it involves accessing device-side information, there may be privacy-related issues, especially when the relevant processes include operations such as identity verification and data exchange, which may also allow users' personal privacy to be shared with third-party businesses. However, the NFC Forum's proposed new operating function definition is still under discussion, so it is expected that relevant measures will be proposed in the future to protect personal privacy.
Currently, the NFC Forum will collaborate with technology companies and manufacturers including Apple and Google on relevant tests and clarify whether any adjustments are needed for the relevant technology integration applications before finally entering the market for use.
