Mexican governmentconfirm, has signed a contract worth 15.6 billion Mexican pesos (nearly 9000 million US dollars) with SpaceX's satellite internet service Starlink, which is expected to provide free wireless Internet access services in Mexico by the end of 2026.
This news was confirmed by Carlos Emiliano Calderon, Mexico's digital strategy coordinator, who revealed that SpaceX offered the most favorable bid in its external bidding and therefore won this cooperation contract.
In addition to SpaceX's Starlink, the Mexican government is actually cooperating with multiple companies to provide free wireless Internet connection services in Mexico, thereby promoting the development and growth of digital applications in Mexico.
As for cooperation in Mexico, Starlink also plans to cooperate with the Federal Electricity Commission of Mexico by the end of 2026, and is expected to provide basic Internet connectivity services in Mexico. The amount involved in the cooperation is approximately between 8.875 million and 18 billion Mexican pesos, or approximately between 5128 million and 1.04 million US dollars.
