Bloomberg News reporter Mark GurmanRefers to, originally expected to be launched in 2026MacBook Pro with OLED display, the actual listing schedule may be delayed to the end of 2026 or even early 2027.
Previous market predictions suggested Apple would maintain its previous product release cadence, with the release of a MacBook Pro with an upgraded M5 processor expected by the end of this year, followed by a new version with an M6 processor and an OLED screen a year later. However, reports indicate that the release of the M5-powered MacBook Pro will be delayed until spring 2026, pushing back the release of the OLED-equipped MacBook Pro as well.
The new MacBook Pro will feature a slimmer design, be equipped with Apple's M6 processor, and switch to an OLED display, and Mark Gurman expects this product to bring changes "enough to drive the entire industry forward."
Market research firm Omdia recently received information from the supply chain that Samsung has secured the first batch of OLED display panel orders for the new MacBook Pro. Despite this, Omdia still expects Apple to launch an OLED model in 2026, but the actual release date will depend on panel production yields, supply stability, and the maturity of the new design in mass production.
In addition to the panel upgrade, the new MacBook Pro may abandon the current "bangs" design and adopt a pill-shaped opening similar to the iPhone's "Dynamic Island". This will not only bring a wider and more consistent visual experience, but may also become a new entry point for macOS in the interactive experience, further integrating the design language of mobile phones and laptops.
The introduction of OLED display technology means that the MacBook Pro will have higher contrast, a wider color gamut, and better energy efficiency. For professional users, whether they are creating images, editing videos, or performing high-demand calculations, they can get more accurate images and longer battery life. Coupled with the expected performance and energy efficiency improvements brought by the M6 processor, the overall user experience will usher in a significant evolution.
Apple has yet to confirm the release date or design details of the MacBook Pro with an OLED display. Market observers believe that even with a delay, the addition of an OLED display and the "Dynamic Island" design will still make the new model one of the most anticipated MacBook Pro upgrades in recent years.
