Although the updated iPhone 17 does not look much different from the iPhone 16, in addition to upgrading to the A19 processor, Apple has also added ProMotion display technology that supports up to 120Hz screen refresh rates to this new phone. It has also further upgraded the front and rear camera systems and even improved the overall battery life.

Regarding the screen, Apple boasts that the iPhone 17 can reach a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits outdoors, meaning users can still clearly see the screen content in high-brightness conditions outdoors. The Super Retina XDR display panel is 6.3 inches, supports a 120Hz refresh rate, and can maintain a constant display at a minimum refresh rate of 1Hz. The overall display panel border has also become narrower. As for the screen protection, it is protected by Ceramic Shield 2 tempered glass, which is claimed to provide up to 3 times the scratch resistance.
The processor is the A19, featuring a "2+4" architecture with two performance cores and four efficiency cores. It's paired with a five-core GPU that supports hardware-accelerated real-time ray tracing, mesh rendering, and MetalFX upscaling. It boasts a significant improvement in display performance over previous iPhone models, while the AI processing is handled by a 2-core Neural Engine. Furthermore, it boasts an eight-hour longer battery life than the iPhone 4 for continuous video playback, and supports fast charging, which allows for a 5% charge in 16 minutes.

As for the camera part, the main camera still maintains a dual-lens design, but both the wide-angle lens and the ultra-wide-angle lens are equipped with 4800-megapixel specifications. The wide-angle lens can also be used as a "telephoto lens" with 1200 million pixels, and the ultra-wide-angle lens additionally provides a 1200-megapixel macro image recording function, thereby making the iPhone 17's shooting more flexible.

There have been major changes in the video camera this time. By adopting a 1:1 ratio 1800-megapixel square photosensitive element, the video camera can allow users to shoot vertical or horizontal images while the iPhone 17 is held vertically. It can even be compared to the Center Stage camera function of iPad and MacBook models, allowing the subject to remain centered in the picture. It is suitable for frequent selfies, live broadcasts, or use cases where you are used to holding the phone with one hand to shoot.

The iPhone 17 is available in black, purple, blue, green and white. The storage capacity starts at 256GB, but the maximum storage capacity remains at 512GB. Pre-orders are also open from now on and will go on sale on September 9. The suggested retail price starts at US$19 and the NT$ price starts at NT$799.
