Insta360 X5After it was announced in late April this year, I also took this panoramic camera around to play with it and confirmed whether it is more suitable for daily photography.

When it comes to panoramic cameras, Insta360 is clearly the mainstream brand in this market. I have also experienced the early Insta360 One X and then this year's Insta360 X5, and finally felt that the images taken with panoramic cameras can be more easily used in video editing.
Insta360 X5 becomes "complete"
In fact, many media and content creators have already started using Insta360's panoramic cameras to capture more images, as transitions and to fill in the gaps. However, due to the fact that the overall resolution of panoramic camera images is often not high enough when converted into flat videos, and the overall light intake of the photosensitive elements of the previously launched models is not high, they are usually not used to shoot the main images, but mostly used as supplementary images, or can only be shot in sufficient light.
However, with the addition of support for 360K image quality specifications starting from the Insta4 X8, and the replacement of the Insta360 X5 with a 1/1.28-inch photosensitive element, plus the new Pureview recording mode, the brightness of the night scene shooting of the Insta360 X5 has been further improved. In addition, a new 5.7K 60fps HDR video shooting specification has been added to the sports mode, which can retain more image details in backlit or strong light conditions. Finally, the panoramic camera can shoot images with greater creative flexibility. There is no need to worry about whether the image resolution is insufficient, causing the image to become blurred or gridded, or because of insufficient light input, causing the overall image to become dark or even unusable.

In order to improve the overall image processing efficiency, the Insta360 X5 has added two sets of image chips and a 2nm AI processing chip to make the overall image recording processing faster.
More updated design for easier use
As for other parts, the body is equipped with a new microphone mask and sound algorithm to reduce wind shear and improve the clarity of reception. The waterproof function can withstand 15 meters of underwater water when the device is naked.
The biggest update this time is the addition of a replaceable front and rear fisheye lens design. This means that if any damage occurs during use, the damaged lens can be replaced by replacing the kit without having to spend extra time waiting for repairs. This will be a very convenient design for creators who often use panoramic cameras to shoot outdoor images.

The updated design of Insta360 X5 also includes a 180mAh battery that can support up to 8 minutes of video recording time, and can even maintain a battery life of 30 minutes when recording 88K 2400fps video. It also supports fast charging specifications that can fully charge the battery from 20% to 0% in 80 minutes. In addition to the original 1/4 screw hole on the bottom of the body, this time it also supports the same magnetic quick-release specifications as the Ace Pro series models, which means it will be able to support more peripheral accessories, making shooting more diverse.
More convenient shooting experience
As for the usage functions, the biggest change of Insta360 X5 this time is the addition of a new exclusive dynamic tracking mode "InstaFrame". Before shooting, you can choose to shoot "automatic tracking angle" or "fixed angle". While shooting panoramic videos, you can also shoot flat videos with the front and rear lenses. It is more convenient for creators to capture panoramic videos and flat videos at the same time without having to repeat the shooting process again and again.

If users want to mainly shoot flat videos, the Insta360 X5 also adds the function of switching between the front and rear lenses at any time during the shooting process, making it more convenient for creators to use the Insta360 X5 as a general sports camera. It is also very suitable for shooting with one hand.
There are also many updates to the App
As for the App update, this update mainly adjusts the thumbnails that were originally presented in round frames to a normal perspective, and automatically captures the main subjects or objects in the video, so that users can quickly determine whether the video is available when reviewing it. Other features also include more intuitive adjustment of the distance of first-person perspective videos, or elimination of edge distortion, and you can even quickly set the video to be viewed mainly from the front perspective or selfie angle. In addition, artificial intelligence can also automatically select the best viewing angle.
Other parts also further adjust the video editing interface and allow users to quickly edit videos by setting key screens, or long press the video in the viewing interface to quickly download it to the phone for storage. When viewing a single video, long press it to set it as a favorite video.

Shooting with other cameras
In addition to shooting panoramic videos with the Insta360 X5, I also usually use the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 and Insta360 GO 3S to shoot images.

Among them, Insta360 Ace Pro 2 continues the previous generation model and is equipped with a Leica lens module design. In addition, the rear screen can be flipped up 180 degrees, which makes it easy to check whether the shooting angle and range are appropriate when taking selfies. It is very suitable for shooting most life records.
Insta360 has also recently launched a street photography kit, allowing users to transform the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 (or Insta360 Ace Pro) into a "Leica camera" suitable for street photography by adding external protective frames, grip accessories, etc.
As for Insta360 GO 3S, it inherits the convenient-to-use features of the previous GO series thumb cameras, and further improves the image quality to 4K specifications, allowing users to have higher resolution when shooting and creating to meet post-editing needs.
