Insta360 has announced the release of the Insta360 GO Ultra, its next-generation pocket camera. Continuing the GO series' hallmarks of lightweight portability and flexible shooting, it packs flagship hardware and AI imaging technology into a mere 53 grams, redefining the "portable action camera" experience. The Insta360 GO Ultra has a suggested retail price of NT$13980 for the standard package and NT$15480 for the popular package. Available now on the official store and nationwide.
According to Insta360, the newly launched Insta360 GO Ultra is a brand new model in the GO series. It is not positioned as a successor to the GO 3, but is instead a higher-specification pocket camera with flagship-level specifications.
Larger sensor and 5nm AI chip
The Insta360 GO Ultra is equipped with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, which allows for over 2x the light intake of previous models. It also features an AI chip built on an upgraded 5nm process, enabling 4K 60fps video recording and supporting Motion HDR and PureVideo Night mode. This delivers more natural depth in both day and night, and in scenes with strong contrast. Combined with AI algorithms to reduce noise, this also improves the GO series' previous weak shooting capabilities in such scenes.
The Motion HDR mode preserves details in high-contrast scenes like sunrises and forest lighting, closely recreating what the human eye sees. Still image capture supports 5000 megapixels, achieving the highest specifications ever in the GO series for both video and photo performance. Insta360 even boasts that the GO Ultra's imaging capabilities are nearing cinematic quality, ushering in a new era for pocket cameras.
Lightweight, hands-free design with a new accessory system
The GO Ultra, weighing only 53 grams, about the same weight as a smartwatch, continues the series' iconic "magnetic hands-free" design, allowing it to be easily attached to the chest, hat brim, handlebars, and even pet collars, allowing you to capture perspectives that are difficult to capture with other cameras. Insta360 also simultaneously launched upgraded accessories such as magnetic lanyards, hat clips, and handlebar mounts, allowing users to free their hands at any time and shoot immersive first-person perspectives.
The GO Ultra can also connect via Bluetooth to the Action Pod, a charging control box equipped with a 2.5-inch flip-up touchscreen. This allows users to detach the camera and attach it to a helmet or chest, while still being able to remotely monitor the footage through the Action Pod or access functions like quick settings and playback.
The camera itself is IPX8 waterproof and has protection up to 10 meters underwater. The Action Pod is IPX4 splash-proof, but does not support underwater use (it can be paired with a dedicated diving case). It also comes with a safety rope to prevent it from falling off, and supports Apple's "Find" function, ensuring that you can create with peace of mind outdoors or while exercising.
Long-lasting battery life and replaceable micro SD memory card design
Addressing the storage and battery life issues previously plagued users, the GO Ultra offers up to 70 minutes of standalone battery life, extending this to 200 minutes with an Action Pod. It also supports 12-minute fast charging to 80%. Furthermore, the new model features a removable micro SD memory card for the first time, supporting up to 2TB of storage capacity. This breaks the fixed internal storage limitations of the previous GO series, allowing for greater flexibility when filming for extended periods or saving high-resolution files.
New features added to the Insta360 App
Insta360 also officially updated the Insta360 App, combining AI smart editing functions with GPS/heart rate data overlay functions, and adding an automatically generated album called "AI Family Moments", allowing videos to be edited and shared on social media in real time.
Redefining the pocket camera
Insta360 stated that the newly launched GO Ultra incorporates the imaging and AI technologies accumulated by the previously launched Ace and X series models, and enhances the usability of the GO series models in a compact size, allowing the camera to reach new heights in image quality, battery life, and flexibility. Through the hands-free intuitive shooting method, users can easily capture every story moment during travel adventures and daily life.
With the launch of the GO Ultra, Insta360 is clearly aiming not only to solidify its position as a "pocket camera," but also to define a new benchmark for the market that combines lightweight design with flagship specifications.
