There have been reports that Apple's upgraded Siri digital assistant serviceWill be postponed to 2026, which has further delayed the launch of the HomePod device with a screen design. Bloomberg News reported that the HomePod device with a screen design is not expected to be released until 2026, so in principle, we still have to wait for the official launch of the new version of Siri.
If nothing unexpected happens, Apple should explain the development progress of the new version of Siri and the features that will be available next at WWDC 6 to be held in June this year.
Apple first announced its plan to update the new version of Siri during WWDC 2024 last year, and as part of the "Apple Intelligence" service, but subsequent rumors claimed that Apple faced difficult problems in the related design, which led to repeated delays in the launch schedule of the new version of Siri. As a result, the market believes that under the current competition in digital assistant services, artificial intelligence startups including Google, Amazon, and even OpenAI have begun to launch new forms of digital assistant services that connect to large natural language models. Apple's current pace in the development of artificial intelligence applications seems to have slowed down a lot.
The HomePod device with a screen design is rumored to be equipped with a square 7-inch screen and a camera lens. It will also be equipped with a new operating system called homeOS, which supports functions such as FaceTime and the use of many Apple application services. It can also serve as a smart home hub, allowing users to use the new version of Siri for more natural and intuitive verbal interactions.
Another design may add a set of robotic arms to the device and will also support the "Apple Intelligence" service, but no further details have been revealed yet.
