As previously announcedAt CES 2025, the HDMI Association announced the new HDMI 2.2 version transmission technology specification, which doubles the transmission bandwidth to 96Gbps to meet the needs of higher-resolution image content transmission.
The HDMI 2.2 transmission technology specification adds a new fixed-rate link signal technology design to support the transmission of uncompressed video and audio content with resolutions above 4K60, and adds a new LIP delay indication protocol design to improve the synchronization problem between image data and audio content transmission.
In addition, the HDMI Association has proposed a new Ultra96 HDMI cable certification to make it easier for consumers to purchase HDMI cables that meet 96Gbps transmission bandwidth.
The HDMI Association expects to begin providing the HDMI 2 design specifications to all manufacturers launching HDMI 2.2.x design products in the first half of this year. However, related products are expected to enter the market some time later, so widespread adoption may take even longer.
