At the recent GitHub UNIVERSE'24 event, GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke announced thatGitHub CopilotAssistant Service(I.e.To Apple's Xcode development platform, it was also announced that GitHub Copilot will support both the Claude 3.5 Sonnet provided by Anthropic and the Gemini 1.5 Pro large natural language model provided by Google.
Currently, the GitHub Copilot assistant service is in public preview testing on the Xcode development platform. In addition to assisting in application development for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS platforms, it also represents Microsoft bringing Copilot's artificial intelligence application capabilities to a wider development environment, allowing more people to use this feature to speed up application service development efficiency.
Similar to previous usage patterns, GitHub Copilot on the Xcode development platform will also provide real-time coding suggestions, and can support programming languages such as Apple's Swift or Objective-C. It can even provide suggestions for multi-line coding content and find error details.
On the other hand, developers can also filter program code content to avoid accidentally using copyrighted code during the program writing process. They can also filter problematic content or inappropriate suggestions to ensure that the final program content meets the requirements while avoiding violations of relevant regulations.
The GitHub Copilot assistant service currently provided on the Xcode development platform will be open to individuals and corporate organizations.
At the event, GitHub also announced that it would add support for two large natural language models, Claude 3.5 Sonnet and Gemini 1.5 Pro, to the GitHub Copilot assistant service, giving users more options in addition to the large natural language models already supported by OpenAI.
In addition, GitHub also announced that with access to more model resources, it will launch GitHub Spark, an artificial intelligence-driven zero-coding application service, allowing users to more easily complete coding through content description, thereby achieving the goal of everyone becoming a developer.
Thomas Dohmke emphasized that the development of using artificial intelligence to generate program code has now entered its second stage, moving towards native artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence thinking, and multi-mode optional development. This will allow more people to hand over their ideas to artificial intelligence to complete the relevant code content writing without any coding technical knowledge. Artificial intelligence will also attract more than 10 billion developers, making GitHub the world's largest developer community.
