Launched in 2019Galaxy Fold, the first foldable phoneSamsung’s officially launched Galaxy Z Fold7, which has entered its seventh generation update, has finally made the body thinner and lighter, while also claiming to be more sturdy and durable, and even further strengthened the camera system of this series of mobile phones that has been criticized.
On the other hand, Samsung also simultaneously unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip7, which has also entered its seventh generation update. It also features a lightweight and durable design, and has enhanced its previous shortcomings.

Both foldable phones are thin and light with upgraded cameras. The processor specifications of the global versions remain the same.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 launched this time both feature a lighter and thinner body design and upgraded camera specifications. However, in order to ensure further lightness and thinness, the former will inevitably consider removing the S Pen support design. Although this may trigger some market criticism, it will make the body lighter and thinner.
Compared to the previous two series of models that maintained the same processor design, this time only the Galaxy Z Fold7 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite specifications, while the Galaxy Z Flip7 uses Samsung's self-developed Exynos 2500, and maintains the same configuration design in all countries and regions, rather than adopting a sales strategy of different processor specifications for specific markets.

Because it is thin and light, it lacks the S Pen function, but it has the same main camera system as the S series.
Although it is not certain whether the thin and light design is related to the recently launched Galaxy S25 Edge, the Galaxy Z Fold7 announced this time has become Samsung's lightest and thinnest large-screen foldable mobile phone ever. The thickness when the screen is unfolded is only 4.2mm, and the thickness when the body is folded is 8.9mm. The overall thickness is reduced by 6% compared to the Galaxy Z Fold26, and the weight is controlled at 215 grams, which is reduced again compared to the previous generation model of 239 grams.

Compared with the reduction in body thickness, Samsung has thickened the ultra-thin foldable glass UTG used for Galaxy Z Fold7 by 50%, making the crease less obvious when it is laid flat, and also more durable. The body frame is also made of a stronger Advanced Armor Aluminum aluminum material.
In addition, the hinge of the Galaxy Z Fold7 has been redesigned to make it more sturdy and maintain IP48 rating for water and dust resistance. The circuit board is also coated to make it waterproof.

As for the screen specifications, the Galaxy Z Fold7 follows the design of the Galaxy Z Fold10 Special Edition, which was launched in late October last year and sold only in the Korean market. The outer screen is enlarged to 6 inches, making it wider and closer to the usage experience of a general upright mobile phone, while the inner screen is increased to 6.5 inches, which increases the visible area by 8% compared to the Galaxy Z Fold, and can correspond to multiple window views.
This time, the under-screen video camera that has been used for a long time in the past has been cancelled and replaced with a perforated video camera design that supports a 100-degree shooting angle, so as to shoot higher-definition and wider-angle images.
However, considering that the body has become significantly thinner and lighter, in addition to the use of a new miniaturized camera module lens and battery components, Samsung has cancelled the S Pen writing function supported by previous generations of models this time, taking into account factors such as actual user usage. Since the sensing layer is removed from the screen, even if the S Pen supported by previous models cannot be used on the Galaxy Z Fold7.

Samsung explained that past data showed that although some people do use the S Pen to record content on the Galaxy Z Fold series, it actually only accounts for a minority. In addition, in order to make the phone thinner and lighter, it decided to cancel the S Pen function. However, it emphasized that the S Pen design will not disappear and will continue to be used on the Galaxy S series models and many tablets and laptops.
Other hardware specifications include the use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, 12GB or 16GB of memory, and 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage capacity, and a 4400mAh battery capacity. It still maintains 25W wired fast charging, wireless charging and power sharing specifications, and can charge the phone from 30% to 0% in 50 minutes.
The interior of the body uses a larger area of high-thermal density graphene to ensure operational stability. In addition, the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 tempered glass, and the back of the body is protected by Gorilla Victus 2 tempered glass.
In terms of color, Galaxy Z Fold7 is available in three colors: Navy Blue, Black, and Silver, while the official website online store will offer mint green as a platform-limited sales color.

In terms of camera, Galaxy Z Fold7 adopts the lens specifications of the Galaxy S series flagship phones, including a 2-megapixel wide-angle lens that supports optical image stabilization, a 1200-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 1000-megapixel 3x optical telephoto lens. The video camera on the 6.5-inch external screen also maintains a 1000-megapixel specification.
The camera system is also equipped with ProVisual Engine technology and supports 10-bit HDR image shooting effects. It can also use Galaxy AI technology to edit photos or remove unnecessary background sounds in recorded videos.

The operating system is confirmed to be based on Android 16 and equipped with One UI 8 interface. It also deeply integrates Gemini Live related technical functions with Google. At the same time, it also retains Samsung's own Galaxy AI technology and makes more artificial intelligence functions more suitable for large-size screen operations.
The newly added Gemini Live benefits from the multimodal characteristics of the new Gemini model, so it can shoot images through the mobile phone camera, analyze the screen for visual recognition, and interact with users through spoken language. Other artificial intelligence parts include camera image editing assistance, text and other content generation, or translation functions in up to 46 languages, and can summarize content and automatically list key points through artificial intelligence. In addition, it also adds the ability to circle specific characters and images in the game to seek related strategies.
On the other hand, Samsung also stated that the Galaxy Z Fold7 will include a 6-month Google AI Pro subscription service provided in cooperation with Google when it leaves the factory.
As for security, KNOX Matrix ensures that different apps only use necessary mobile phone data without affecting the privacy and security of unnecessary data. The newly added Secure Wi-Fi function seems to be similar to the Wi-Fi connection security function added by Google in Android 16.

Galaxy Z Flip7 is also thinner and lighter, with an upgraded camera
Just like the Galaxy Z Fold7 has become thinner and lighter, the newly launched Galaxy Z Flip7 also adopts a thinner design. It also uses a newly built body hinge that is 30% thinner than the previous generation model, making it more sturdy and durable.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 has a body thickness of 6.5mm when the screen is unfolded and 13.7mm when folded, and weighs 188 grams. It also maintains an IP48-rated waterproof and dustproof design, and the circuit board is also coated to ensure waterproofness.

The change to the external screen this time is because it has been changed to a perforated screen format, which increases the visible display area from 3.4 inches to 4.1 inches. Overall, it has become more like the external screen design of the Motorla RAZR 60 Ultra. At the same time, it also uses a 70% narrower bezel to further increase the visible range, and the picture display refresh rate is increased to 120Hz.

The narrow bezel design of the inner screen has increased the visible area from 6.7 inches in the previous generation to 6.9 inches, while maintaining a screen experience similar to that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
As for the inner screen surface, it also uses 50% thicker ultra-thin foldable glass UTG, so it emphasizes that even if it is flattened, the crease in the middle will not be too obvious, and it has the same maximum peak brightness of 2600 nits as the outer screen.

In terms of hardware specifications, the Galaxy Z Flip7 globally adopts Samsung's Exynos 3 processor built with a 2500nm GAA process, and provides 12GB of memory, 256GB or 512GB of storage capacity, and a battery capacity of 4300mAh. It still maintains 25W wired fast charging, wireless charging and power sharing specifications, and also has KNOX Matrix security technology and Secure Wi-Fi secure networking functions.
In terms of color, Galaxy Z Flip7 is available in three colors: Navy Blue, Black, and Coral Red. The official website online store will also offer mint green as a platform-limited color.

The camera specifications remain the same, with a 5000-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 1200-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The video lens on the internal screen is also equipped with 1000-megapixel specifications. In addition, the camera system is also equipped with ProVisual Engine technology and supports 10-bit HDR image shooting effects.

In terms of operating system, it is also based on Android 16 and equipped with One UI 8 interface. It also deeply integrates Gemini Live related technical functions with Google, retains Samsung's own Galaxy AI technology, and provides artificial intelligence information summary functions such as Now Brief and Now Bar on the external screen. In addition, you can also use artificial intelligence application services such as Gemini Live.
Like the Galaxy Z Fold7, Samsung also includes a 7-month Google AI Pro subscription service provided in cooperation with Google when the Galaxy Z Flip6 leaves the factory.
