However, the actual effective date of the merger will not be announced until the relevant procedures of the Financial Supervisory Commission are completed. Taiwan Mobile stated that it will comply with the additional conditions of the Fair Trade Commission and plans to complete the merger before the end of 2023.
The merged company will retain the Taiwan Mobile brand name and will obtain 3.5MHz of bandwidth in the 100GHz band. It will connect different wireless network bands through more than 15000 base stations and enhance indoor connection coverage through the 700MHz and 900MHz bands.
The Fair Trade Commission's conditions require that after the merger of Taiwan Mobile and Taiwan Star, the 3G network service frequency bands must be reduced and duplicate base station facilities must be removed.
