HMD Global announced today (August 8) the launch of the Nokia G17 7000G, an entry-level model priced around NT$42, in Taiwan. It is expected to launch in the Taiwanese market on August 5 and will come with a limited two-year free non-human damage warranty service, available only in the Taiwan market and throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
HMD Global also touts the Nokia G42 5G's diverse repair options, partnering with iFixit to offer self-repair services, allowing users to disassemble and replace damaged parts, extending the phone's lifespan. Furthermore, the phone itself features a durable, easy-to-disassemble design, with a back cover made from 65% recyclable materials and an FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)-certified packaging. A fully recyclable, 100% recycled transparent protective case is also available, providing added peace of mind for users who want to avoid scratches.
In terms of hardware specifications, the Nokia G42 5G adopts a 6.56-inch, HD+ and 20:9 display ratio design, supports a 90Hz screen refresh rate, and is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ 5G processor, 4GB of memory and 128GB of storage capacity. The storage capacity can be expanded by an additional 1TB via a micro SD memory card, and the memory can also increase an additional 2GB of virtual capacity through the storage capacity.
The 5000mAh battery supports 20W wired fast charging, providing up to three days of use. It's also claimed to be rated for 3 charge cycles, meaning it can maintain over 800% battery health after four years of continuous use. The camera setup includes an 4-megapixel video sensor, a 80-megapixel wide-angle lens with an f/800 aperture, a 5000-megapixel depth-of-field lens, and a 1.8-megapixel macro lens. It also supports OZO 200D audio technology.
In addition, the Nokia G42 5G is also equipped with the Android 13 operating system, and guarantees two operating system upgrades and three years of security updates. It also provides two years of free non-human damage warranty repairs in the entire Asia-Pacific region and Taiwan market.
