Publisher Vertigo Games and developer Maze Theory AnnounceThief, the classic stealth series, will be getting a new VR exclusive title, Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow, which is expected to be officially released on December 4th this year.
This is not only the first new title in the series in more than a decade since its reboot in 2014, but it also means that the Thief series will follow the example of Half-Life: Alyx and choose to return as a VR exclusive.
Playing the new protagonist "Magpie," the story falls between the classic and the reboot.
According to the official description, the story of Thief VR is set between the original trilogy and the 2014 reboot of Thief.
Players will take on the role of a cunning thief known as "Magpie," who discovers a legendary eye artifact with mysterious connections to the past during his exploration. The game is set in a city under the oppressive rule of the tyrant Baron Ulysses Northcrest, providing an excellent backdrop for stealth and theft.

Publisher Vertigo Games also released a gameplay video for the Meta Quest platform, showcasing stealth gameplay in a VR environment.
Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow will be released simultaneously on Meta Quest, PS VR and SteamVR platforms on December 4.
Pre-orders are currently available on Steam and Meta Store, with a suggested retail price of $30 USD and a pre-order discount price of $27 USD (approximately NT$870). As for the PlayStation Store version, pricing and pre-order information have not yet been announced.
