Retro Games and Plaion Replai, the classic 8-bit home computer replica console, recently announced the launch of a new "Black Limited Edition" for its THEC64 Mini (THEC64 Mini – Black Edition), allowing players to relive the charm of the best-selling Commodore 64 computer in history in a modern way.
As the name suggests, this new console changes the original beige shell of THEC64 Mini to an all-black design, but the overall appearance still maintains the classic outline of the Commodore 64 of that year.
Pre-loaded with 25 games and imported "New Retro" content
The C64 Mini – Black Edition will come pre-loaded with 25 games. Unlike previous versions, this collection features a number of "neo-retro" games designed by C64 developers on the old architecture, such as "Sam's Journey", "A Pig Quest" and "Hessian".
Of course, in addition to built-in games, players can also connect their own flash drives via the USB port to load and play custom C64 game files. Retro Games said that the new version of the console also provides 4 save slots for each game.
HDMI output, USB joystick, and external keyboard
In terms of connectivity and operation, the THEC64 Mini – Black Edition supports HDMI display output, making it easy to connect to modern TVs or monitors. A retro joystick with a USB interface will also be included in the package.
If players want an operating experience closer to the original C64, they can also use a standard keyboard via the USB slot. However, Retro Games has previously released a non-Mini version of "THEC64", which has a fully functional keyboard built in.
