Do you always have wildly imaginative ideas but struggle to implement them because you don't know how to code? Red Bull Basement, Red Bull's globally recognized innovation program, has announced the official launch of its 2026 competition. This year's biggest highlight is its full embrace of AI technology. Even if you're a liberal arts student with "zero programming experience," you can use the AI tools provided by the official team to turn your ideas into business models.
The winning team from Taiwan will not only receive technical support from AMD and Microsoft, but will also represent Taiwan in Silicon Valley, USA, to compete with top teams from around the world for a US$10 (approximately NT$320 million) startup fund.
No coding skills? No problem! AI will be your tech partner.
Unlike traditional hackathons or commercial competitions that often require a strong technical background, Red Bull Basement's core concept this year is "technology empowerment." The organizers have specifically incorporated AI mentor tools to help participants generate ideas from scratch.
This means that even participants without a strong engineering background can use AI to assist in business model analysis, feasibility assessment, and even generate more sophisticated solutions. Last year's world champion, Soj Gamayon, won with his "AgriConnect" project, which uses AI technology to monitor crop health and warn of risks, proving that with a good enough idea, AI can help you achieve your goals.
With the support of AMD and Microsoft, the Taiwanese champion flew directly to Silicon Valley.
To bring their ideas to life, Red Bull partnered with powerful hardware and software allies:
• AMD:As a global strategic partner, we will provide AI laptops equipped with AMD processors to the winning team in Taiwan, directly addressing their computing power needs during the development phase.
• Microsoft:We provide mentorship from a group of experts and Microsoft Azure cloud credits to help teams prepare for the World Finals.
• Plug and Play Taiwan:The international venture capital accelerator will provide exclusive mentorship, enabling students' ideas to connect with the real business market.
The competition consists of four stages, and submissions are open from now until March 25th. The preliminary round will select 30 promising teams, and the semi-finals will narrow down the field to 10 teams that will advance to the Taiwan regional finals. The final Taiwan champion will travel to Silicon Valley, USA, to participate in the world finals, where they will not only have access to resources from Stanford University and Red Bull Ventures, but also have the opportunity to secure $100,000 in initial funding for their startup.
