Earlier announcementSecond quarter financial report for fiscal year 2024In the report, Tesla stated that its overall revenue reached $255 billion, of which vehicle revenue reached $198.78 billion, energy business revenue reached $30.14 billion, and service and other revenue reached $26.08 billion. At the same time, Tesla CEO Elon Musk also stated that he would announce hisrobotaxis (robotaxi) prototype design.
Tesla originally planned to announce the details of its robotaxi on August 8th, but Elon Musk later requested adjustments to certain details, leading to the postponement. Earlier in the earnings call, Musk reiterated that the delay would allow the team time to make more detailed preparations, but he did not disclose the actual reason for the delay or the details of the adjustments.
Elon Musk envisions fully autonomous robotaxis as a catalyst for even greater market change, with this goal expected to be realized by the end of this year or early next year. However, with companies like Waymo already developing autonomous vehicle technology, the question of whether Tesla's planned robotaxis will prove particularly appealing is clearly a key market focus.
On the other hand, although Tesla plans to create new market development opportunities through autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, and robotics technologies, its current revenue still relies heavily on vehicle sales. Consequently, recent factors such as the US government's adjustments to electric vehicle subsidies have caused its electric vehicle sales growth to slow and even decline. Tesla still expects to attract market attention with its relatively high-priced electric pickup truck, the Cybertruck, and subsequent entry-level models that will be sold at lower prices.
Regarding the development of artificial intelligence (AI), Elon Musk stated that he will collaborate with NVIDIA to build the world's largest AI training cluster by the end of this year. Earlier, he announced the launch of a training cluster called the "Memphis Supercluster," which was built in collaboration with his artificial intelligence company xAI, the "X" team, and related supporting companies. It utilizes 10 liquid-cooled NVIDIA H100 accelerators.
