Tesla announced earlierVehicle production and delivery data for the fourth quarter and full year of 2024, of which a total of 45.9 electric vehicles were produced in the fourth quarter, with 49.5 delivered. In 2024, the annual vehicle production will reach 177.3 million units, with a total of 178.9 million units delivered.
In addition to being lower than market expectations, Tesla's full-year vehicle deliveries were also lower than its full-year performance in 2023, marking the first time that Tesla's full-year vehicle deliveries have declined in the following year.
The decline in vehicle deliveries for the full year was driven by factors including the loss of market share by several Chinese automakers and the increasing popularity of American brands like Rivian, which reduced Tesla's overall vehicle deliveries. Other factors included Tesla's focus on robotics and self-driving taxis last year, coupled with a projected slowdown in vehicle replacements, which shifted the market's attention to other brands.
However, if Tesla launches more affordable electric vehicles in 2025 as previously rumored, and expands its electric vehicle market presence, it may improve Tesla's vehicle sales performance.
