Hibar Systems' primary business involves manufacturing battery production equipment for products such as hybrid vehicles and laptops. Hibar Systems not only maintains production facilities in the United States, but also in Europe, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, and China.
The rumored acquisition by Tesla indicates that it will give Tesla greater capacity to produce its own battery products, thereby reducing its reliance on battery manufacturers including Panasonic.
Prior to this, Tesla had confirmed the acquisition of battery technology company Maxwell for US$2.18 million, and also hinted that it would produce battery products on its own to reduce the demand for external battery supply and make vehicle costs easier to control.
In recent external job recruitment, Tesla revealed that it will build a new battery production line in Fremont, California, and also plans to recruit battery technology talents in Colorado, indicating that Tesla is indeed preparing to produce batteries for electric vehicles and even apply them to more of its power storage equipment.
