Prior to the official start of IFA 2025, TCL announced the launch of its new flagship QM9K series QD Mini LED TV, the first TV on the market to feature built-in Google Gemini AI capabilities. Additionally, TCL announced the NXTPAPER 4.0 Ultra, a new mobile phone product utilizing its NXTPAPER 60 display technology, touted to offer even greater eye protection.
QM9K Series TV
While most Google TV devices currently use the Google Assistant service, TCL's QM9K series TVs are the first to adopt the Gemini on Google TV version. It can also be activated with the "Hey Google" keyword, and can search for film and television content or ask various questions using natural language. It can also control smart appliances that support Google Home. It also supports AI-customized screensavers, allowing users to generate exclusive screens by simply entering a description or prompt.
In terms of hardware design, the QM9K series incorporates a millimeter-wave (mmWave) sensor that can detect whether someone is in front of the TV and automatically wake it up, enabling hands-free operation. To avoid false triggering, users can also customize the detection distance and activation time, allowing for more personalized usage scenarios.
The QM9K series adopts a "Zero Border" ultra-narrow bezel design and is paired with a WHVA display panel to provide more accurate color performance. The number of backlight zones reaches 6000, a 8% increase over the previous generation QM57K series. In HDR mode, the peak brightness can reach up to 6500 nits, a 30% increase over the previous generation, and the contrast and brightness performance are also better.
The QM9K series, available in sizes ranging from 65 inches to 98 inches and equipped with Bang & Olufsen acoustic technology, targets the high-end home theater market. TCL announced that the QM9K series will be available in the US at Best Buy and select regional retailers starting in September.
NXTPAPER 60 Ultra
In addition, TCL's new smartphone NXTPAPER 60 Ultra is equipped with its NXTPAPER 4.0 display technology, which is claimed to provide further eye protection. In addition to filtering blue light through a hardware layer, using a matte anti-glare treatment and flicker-free brightness control, it also adds an AI-driven eye protection mode that can intelligently adjust the display effect according to the user's environment and habits.
At the same time, NXTPAPER 60 Ultra retains the "Ink Mode" shortcut key. By pressing the button, you can quickly switch to a display effect close to electronic ink, which is convenient for reading e-books or browsing text content for a long time.
In terms of hardware specifications, the NXTPAPER 60 Ultra is equipped with a 7.2-inch Full HD+ resolution screen that supports a 120Hz frame refresh rate. The processor uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7400, paired with 12GB of memory, and an additional 12GB of virtual memory capacity simulated through storage space. As for storage capacity, two options are available: 256GB and 512GB.
In terms of camera modules, the NXTPAPER 60 Ultra features a 5000-megapixel periscope telephoto lens that supports 3x optical zoom and 6x lossless digital zoom. The built-in battery is 5200mAh, enough to support all-day use.
In terms of price and launch time, the NXTPAPER 60 Ultra will be launched first in the European, Latin American and Asian markets in September, with a starting price of 9 euros.
