Taobao announced today (October 16th) the official launch of the Double 11 Shopping Festival in Taiwan. This year, specifically targeting those without credit cards, students, and new customers in southern Taiwan, Taobao has partnered with China Trust to launch a "New User Shipping, Tax, and Fee Package Subsidy." This package eliminates the three most common pain points faced by novice cross-border shoppers: shipping, taxes, and service fees, allowing first-time buyers to purchase their first order for less than NT$5.

Solve the pain points of cross-border shopping at one time

According to a survey, Taiwan's overall e-commerce penetration rate is facing a growth bottleneck, but the cross-border e-commerce market continues to grow. The total value of Taiwan's imported parcels is expected to reach NT$656 billion in 2024, a 196.8% increase over the past decade. The total number of parcels has also climbed from 1582 million in 2014 to 5847 million, a 269.5% increase.

To seize this wave of cross-border business opportunities, Taobao has partnered exclusively with China Trust. After completing verification, new users who choose "Cross-border Cash on Delivery" for their first order will enjoy:

• The maximum freight subsidy is RMB 30

• The maximum tax subsidy for the Honorary Tax is NT$1000

• Free technical service fee subsidy capped at NT$50

In addition, with the "New Users Exclusive RMB 1" special zone products, you can purchase products for less than NT$5 on your first order, and you can pick up the goods first and pay later at 7-ELEVEN stores across Taiwan.

Focus on expanding the southern Taiwan market

This year, Taobao is placing particular emphasis on developing the southern Taiwan market. In addition to exclusively partnering with 7-ELEVEN, which has the largest number of stores in southern Taiwan, to offer cross-border cash on delivery services, the company will also visit renowned night markets and shopping districts in southern Taiwan during the Double 11 shopping festival to engage directly with consumers face-to-face.

88VIP membership benefits are increased

Taobao has launched the "88VIP Shopping Card" for loyal users. During Double 11, members can receive a minimum of RMB 5000 worth of discount coupons, with a return rate of 56 times. Activate the card between now and October 24th to instantly receive a RMB 1350 pre-sale coupon.

Starting from October 20, existing users who choose the "Cross-border Cash on Delivery" service can enjoy a 10% discount including tax to reward loyal customers.

Diversified payment options and convenience store discounts

Taobao offers a variety of payment discounts during Double 11:

• Card swipe fee-free coupons are limited to a daily amount

• China Trust Accounts are exempt from 1% handling fee

• Jiekou payment is free of 1% handling fee

• Taishin Bank credit card rebate up to 13.3%

• Visa card various discount offers

There are also great deals for picking up orders at convenience stores. Picking up orders at 7-ELEVEN will give away 20000 servings of "Homealx Second Floor Double Cheese and Meat Sauce Pasta", while Hi-Life will give away 10000 servings of "Large American Coffee".

Global brand visual innovation

Taobao also announced the launch of its international brand visual identity, "Everything and Anything!", and simultaneously launched localized Double 11 events in 20 markets around the world, reinforcing its brand positioning of "Taobao offers the widest selection and best deals," offering a rich selection of over 20 billion products.

This year's Double 11, Taobao is making every effort to capture Taiwan's cross-border e-commerce market by solving cross-border shopping pain points, expanding penetration into the southern market, and collaborating with convenience stores on diversified payment methods, allowing novices to shop on Taobao without worrying about it and veterans to enjoy a more favorable shopping experience.
