OpenAI releases o3-pro, the most powerful artificial intelligence model to date, first available to ChatGPT Pro and Team users
Following the announcement of the o3 and o4-mini models in April 2025, OpenAI has now released the o3-pro model, touted as its most powerful AI model to date. It will initially be available to paid subscribers of ChatGPT Pro and ChatGPT Team services, replacing the existing o1-pro model. API access resources are also provided to developers, enabling them to create more apps based on the o3-pro model. o3-pro can be used for web searching, document analysis, inference based on visual input, and execution of Python code. It also supports contextual connections using memory. Due to its larger parameter size, its response time is slightly longer than o1-pro. Currently, it cannot generate images and is not compatible with the Canvas interface in the ChatGPT workspace. According to OpenAI's published test data, o3-pro outperforms Google Gemini 2.5 Pro in mathematical computation in mainstream AI benchmark tests, and outperforms Anthropic's recently released Claude 4 Opus in knowledge recognition tests. Regarding API pricing, o3-pro costs $20 per million word inputs and $80 per million word outputs.
