Last year, SEGA announced a completely new installment in the Virtua Fighter series, *New Virtua Fighter*, focusing on innovation and realism, and presenting characters in a more refined manner. During the "VF Direct 2025 SPRING" livestream, SEGA revealed a new look for Canadian professional wrestler Wolf Hawkfield and announced that *Virtua Fighter 5 REVO* will support cross-platform play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Wolf's new look showcases the use of real-time ray tracing and other new technologies to enhance realism. SEGA also emphasized that the story elements and character designs of each character in the new game will be further enhanced, with more detailed facial expressions and clothing that better reflects the character's personality. Akira Yuuki and Sarah Bryan, who appeared in previous trailers, are also presented in a more refined and realistic style. SEGA also explained that a new fighting system has been added to the controls, allowing players to become more immersed in the combat. SEGA also announced that *Virtua Fighter 5 REVO*, based on *Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown* and featuring Steam-exclusive balance adjustments and upgrades, will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, supporting cross-platform play. Regarding global tournaments featuring *Virtua Fighter 5 REVO*, regional qualifiers will be held at Combo Breaker 2025 in Chicago, USA; the *Virtua Fighter* Open Championship in Tokyo, USA; EVO 2025 in Las Vegas, USA; the VSFighting Fighting Championship in Birmingham, UK; and the TGU event in Bangkok, Thailand. Online participation is also accepted. SEGA also announced that new T-shirts featuring the classic line "You're 10 years too early!" will be sold on Amazon, and the *Virtua Fighter* soundtrack will be available on Apple Music and Spotify.

Following the announcement at The Game Awards 2024 that a completely new Virtua Fighter title, *New Virtua Fighter*, would be developed by Yakuza Studios, SEGA provided further details via a VF Direct 2024 livestream. *New Virtua Fighter* will be led by Riichiro Yamada, the producer behind titles such as *SEGA New Creative Club* and *Devil's Tribe*. He emphasized that the new game will focus on innovation and realism, aiming to be the most innovative fighting game ever made. While specific details are still unavailable, Yamada confirmed that characters like Akira Yuuki and Sarah Bryan, featured in the trailer and later introduced characters, will be presented with greater detail and realism. A brand-new fighting system will also be added, allowing players to become more immersed in the combat. Alongside the announcement of the new title, SEGA also announced *Virtua Fighting 5 REVO*, a Steam-exclusive version of *Virtua Fighting 5: Ultimate Showdown*, featuring adjustments and upgrades. These upgrades include tweaks to numerous moves and animations, the addition of new combos and attack effects, and a 30th-anniversary edition that will include many design elements from the game's development process. The balance and move updates will also be provided as a 2.0 version of the previously released *Virtua Fighting 5: Ultimate Showdown*, allowing more players to enjoy a fresh experience. SEGA also plans to host a global tournament for *Virtua Fighting 5 REVO*, scheduled for Spring 2025, and it will be one of the official titles at EVO Japan 2025, held at Tokyo Big Sight from May 9th to 11th. Furthermore, SEGA plans to reveal more information about the *Virtua Fighting* series at Frosty Faustings XVII 2025, held in Chicago from January 23rd to 26th next year. SEGA also announced the release of the Classic Edition of Virtua Frontier 2 for Xbox and PC, and the Collector's Edition of Virtua Frontier 5: Ultimate Showdown for PlayStation 4 and PC, which are expected to be available for pre-order starting today.
