As previously announced, Tesla has officially revealed details of the Model Y, part of its "S3XY (SEXY)" series, confirming its positioning as a 7-seater SUV. Pricing starts at $39,000, with a maximum range of up to 300 miles (approximately 480 kilometers). Positioned slightly higher than the previously released Model 3, and smaller than the Model X, it lacks the gull-wing hatchback design. However, the Model Y still comfortably seats seven, and its interior features are similar to the Model 3, including a panoramic sunroof and a large central touchscreen display. The battery is also located at the bottom of the vehicle. Given its focus on SUV needs, the overall design prioritizes stability over high-speed performance, but it still accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 241 km/h. The newly launched Model Y is basically divided into four versions: Standard Range, Long Range, Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD), and Performance. The top-of-the-line version is priced at $60,000, while the basic Standard Range version starts at $39,000, which translates to approximately NT$1.2 million. However, the maximum range is reduced to 230 miles (about 370 kilometers), and the acceleration time from 0 to 60 mph is 5.9 seconds. According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the Standard Range version of the Model Y could begin shipping as early as spring 2021, with mass production expected in the second half of this year. The other versions will be available in the fall of 2020, but all models are available for pre-order starting today. Musk also revealed that the Model Y will also receive the full version of Full Self-Driving capabilities, and other models can be upgraded via software updates. However, these features are still subject to approval by relevant US regulatory agencies, and the actual release date of the update is not yet confirmed. Regarding the progress of the Supercharger network for Tesla vehicles, Tesla stated that there are currently over 1400 charging stations in 36 countries and regions worldwide, with a cumulative total of over 12000 chargers (in Taiwan, charging stations have now been extended to the Hualien and Taitung areas). The faster 3.0 version charger will also be deployed at various charging stations in succession.
