Google offers two AI learning programs to Taiwanese students, and simultaneously launches a Traditional Chinese version of its "AI Mode" search function.
Google today (October 8th) announced the launch of two AI learning programs for students in Taiwan, aiming to help the next generation master artificial intelligence applications earlier. It also officially launched the Traditional Chinese version of the "AI Mode" search function, allowing users to complete more complex search tasks naturally in Chinese. This marks an important step for Google in further deepening its AI education and localization experience in Taiwan. Free AI Professional Program to Help College Students Enhance Learning Abilities According to Google research, more than 86% of students worldwide use AI tools in their studies. To help Taiwanese students grasp future learning trends, Google announced the launch of two AI learning programs. Starting today, Taiwanese college students aged 18 and above can apply for a free one-year Google AI Pro program for the Gemini 2.5 Pro model. The program includes several advanced features, including Deep Research mode, NotebookLM voice summarization tool, and 2TB of cloud storage. Google stated that the purpose of providing this program is to enable students to more efficiently apply generative AI in report writing, research organization, and data analysis. Prior to this, Google had already announced the addition of a new "Guided Learning" mode to its Gemini model, helping students understand knowledge through an interactive learning process rather than simply providing answers. Google also offered a free one-year Google AI Pro subscription to university students in select markets to further promote AI learning applications. High school clubs can receive scholarships, making AI a "shrine member." Targeting high school students, Google launched the "Taiwan High School Club Festival," encouraging student clubs to use Gemini as an AI collaboration partner and utilize generative tools to complete creative proposals or projects. Clubs that register and submit their work before November 30, 2025, will receive a NT$3000 club scholarship. Google stated that through this activity, it hopes to inspire students' interdisciplinary collaboration and creative application of AI, making technology a "superpower" for learning. The Traditional Chinese version of AI Mode is launched, supporting voice and image search. In addition to the education program, Google also announced the official launch of the Traditional Chinese version of the "AI Mode" search function in Taiwan, allowing users to interact with AI in a more natural way during searches. The new feature utilizes the Gemini custom model and "query expansion" technology to handle complex, multi-layered questions that are more than three times longer than traditional searches. AI Mode search supports multimodal interaction methods such as voice input, photo capture, or image upload, allowing users to directly ask questions based on what they see. This design is particularly suitable for scenarios requiring rapid data interpretation, product comparison, or travel planning. Google states that AI Mode search combines the Gemini model, knowledge graph, and real-time shopping data, and is built upon the core search ranking system to ensure the quality and authenticity of responses. Promoting AI Education and Localization: In recent years, Google has actively promoted the development of Taiwan's AI ecosystem, strengthening local support from educational resources and cloud platforms to search experience. The simultaneous launch of the AI Learning Program and the Traditional Chinese version of AI Mode search not only demonstrates Google's commitment to AI popularization but also allows students and general users to get closer to the practical applications of generative AI.
