Google strengthens Chrome on iOS features, introduces a work- and personal account separation mechanism, and improves enterprise data security
As more and more enterprises promote the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) work model, Google recently launched a series of new features for the iOS version of Chrome, further strengthening the isolation of user data between personal and work accounts, and simultaneously enhancing enterprise security measures. In this update, the iOS version of Chrome officially supports the same account switching and data separation features as the Android and desktop versions. Users can log in to their personal and work Google accounts on the same device, and the browser will automatically isolate data belonging to different accounts, such as pagination, browsing history, and passwords, ensuring that confidential corporate information is not mixed with personal usage activities. For enterprise management, this update also adds several Chrome Enterprise management features. For example, enterprise IT teams can enable URL filtering for work accounts logged in on iOS devices, restricting access to unauthorized websites. In addition, security teams can instantly stream usage records from iOS and Android devices to the Google Admin Console or any SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) system. These features, already supported in the desktop version of Chrome, are now extended to mobile devices. To help users better understand how the management mechanism works, Google has designed a guided tour. When a user logs in for the first time or selects a work account, the system guides them through the difference between personal and managed accounts and briefly explains how the company handles their work data. Each time the user switches to a work account, Chrome proactively prompts them that they are about to enter a "managed browsing experience." Google emphasizes that this update will help businesses effectively implement security and data protection strategies without sacrificing mobile work convenience. This feature is now fully available to all iOS devices managed through Chrome Enterprise.
