At the start of his WWDC 2025 keynote address, Apple's Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, transformed into a race car driver, showcasing his skills on the rooftop of Apple Park. During the presentation, he also promoted Apple's original film, *F1 The Movie*, set to release on June 25th. Apple had also earlier released a trailer showcasing the iPhone's Taptic Engine vibration technology, promising a more immersive viewing experience on the iPhone. *F1 The Movie*, starring Brad Pitt and produced by current Ferrari Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, is scheduled for release on June 25th. In addition to Apple TV+, the film will also be shown in theaters in 2D, IMAX, 4DX, MX4D, Atmos, Dolby Cinema, and ScreenX formats. The trailer released for this film will be available on iPhones updated to iOS 18.4 and later, via the Apple TV app or the App Store. Users can experience the engine roar and tire vibrations through the iPhone's built-in Taptic Engine technology, along with subtle haptic feedback for each gear shift, immersing themselves in the tension of the film. Apple emphasizes that each haptic feedback element is meticulously crafted frame-by-frame, precisely corresponding to the film's emotional rhythm and visual dynamism, delivering a highly immersive and dramatic viewing experience. Like sound design and color calibration, haptic feedback is an integral part of watching "F1 Movie" on iPhones, making the narrative more gripping with each vibration. If the use of Taptic Engine technology in "F1 Movie" provides an even more immersive experience, Apple may expand the adoption of this technology in future original content creation, thereby creating entirely new viewing experiences.
