Aiming to create timeless masterpieces, Fujifilm launches the GFX ETERNA, a professional film camera featuring a large-format sensor.
Fujifilm has announced the development of the GFX ETERNA, its first professional film camera featuring a large-format sensor, aiming to become a leader in a new era of filmmaking and create timeless masterpieces. The name GFX ETERNA is derived from Fujifilm's earlier ETERNA series of professional film negatives designed for cinematic shooting. In terms of hardware specifications, the GFX ETERNA uses the GFX 102MP CMOS II HS sensor, approximately 1.7 times the size of a full-format sensor, paired with the X-Processor 5 image processor. It is essentially the same as the previously released medium format camera, the GFX100 II, but incorporates more features for cinematic shooting. Fujifilm also stated that it is developing a new power zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 32-90mm, as well as an adapter compatible with the PL-MOUNT cinema lens mount, allowing the GFX ETERNA to use a wider range of cinematic lenses. GFX ETERNA is expected to be showcased at the InterBEE 2024 event held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, and is expected to be officially launched in 2025.
