Meta also launched a mobile editing software called "Edits" to compete with CapCut, integrating AI functions that can automatically generate video effects.

Following Google's launch of YouTube Create, a video editing app designed to compete with services like CapCut for YouTube content creation, Meta recently announced "Edits," a new video editing app for Instagram content creation. "Edits" integrates its own shooting function, eliminating the need to switch to other shooting software. It can record up to 4K 60p HDR video without leaving watermarks and can also enhance video quality through algorithms. As for editing features, in addition to basic video editing functions, it includes numerous AI-powered editing effects, such as quick background removal, generating videos from still images, and even automatically focusing on specific people or objects. It also includes an interface that allows users to track the viewing performance of short videos shared on Instagram Reels. Meta's goal with "Edits" is not only to further attract more people to create short videos that can be shared on Instagram Reels, but also to compete with ByteDance's international version of CapCut. Currently, "Edits" is available on both Apple's App Store and Google Play Store, and is offered for free download. More features are planned for the future, but it is not yet confirmed whether a PC version of the editing tool will be launched, similar to CapCut.

YouTube Create App, which can quickly edit videos and compete with services such as Jianying, has begun testing in Taiwan and other regions.

YouTube Create App, announced in late September last year for its rapid video editing capabilities, is now available for beta testing on Android devices in Taiwan and other countries, allowing users to quickly edit videos directly through their phones. YouTube Create App includes main editing functions, voice-over capabilities, and automatic subtitle addition. It also offers effects, transitions, and royalty-free music, allowing users to create videos quickly, similar to apps like CapCut. Users simply record video clips with their phones and upload them to YouTube Create App. Artificial intelligence technology assists in editing, and thousands of free, royalty-free tracks can be used as background music. A beat matching tool allows users to synchronize edits with the music rhythm. Thousands of built-in stickers, GIFs, and a rich selection of effects and filters enhance the visual appeal of videos. Users can also adjust colors, brightness, and saturation according to their preferences using transitions, effects, and filters. Other convenient features include AI-powered removal of background noise, automatic subtitle addition via voice recognition, and the ability to edit text and add different text styles as needed. Finally, videos created with the YouTube Create App can be quickly exported as Shorts or uploaded to the YouTube service as longer videos. Google emphasizes that it will continue to enhance the YouTube Create App's functionality, making video creation simpler and more efficient, and attracting more people to upload their content to YouTube by simplifying the creation process. Among the previously announced additions of numerous AI-powered features, one is the ability to automatically recommend suitable music based on a user's description of the video content, with users able to purchase licenses at a discounted price. This feature is expected to be officially launched in 2024. As for the YouTube Shorts service, a "Dream Screen" feature will be added, allowing users to add AI-generated videos and images to their short videos. This can also be quickly generated through simple text descriptions. Currently, it will be available for testing with select creators and will also be officially launched in 2024. To address the need for videos to attract viewers from different countries, users will also be able to use an AI-powered voice-over tool called Aloud to quickly generate voice-overs in different languages and make modifications before the video is actually published. This feature is also expected to be launched in 2024.
