Years after its launch, Rockstar Games announced a free update for Grand Theft Auto V on PC with new features.

Years after its initial release, Rockstar Games announced a free upgrade to the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V, offering new features available through the Rockstar Games Launcher, Steam, and Epic Games. This upgrade brings features previously only available on the latest generation of consoles and improves the gaming experience and performance on PC. Players who already own the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V can upgrade for free and transfer their story and online progress. Players who are playing Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online for the first time on PC will receive both the new version (Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced Edition) and the original version (Grand Theft Auto V Legacy Edition) when they purchase the download. New vehicles added to the PC version include the Pegassi Armed Ignatius (supercar), Tornado II (supercar), Carlin S95 (sports car), Imperator Arbiter GT (American muscle car), and the Pfister Astronautics (sports SUV). The 20 vehicles already in GTA Online can also be customized using the Aho Custom system. To celebrate GTA+'s PC launch, Rockstar Games is offering a special Classic Collection: from now until May 28th, GTA+ members can claim the Code X-400 (supercar) for free. The updated launch screen allows experienced PC players to jump right in, while new players can utilize the improved start-up process and gain a windfall of GTA$5 million through the Career Builder, making it easier to choose from four criminal careers. The Career Progress feature helps track your progress across all GTA Online content updates and unlocks special rewards as you progress. Both new and existing GTA Online players can enjoy a wealth of new content, including today's update, "Oscar Goetzman Returns to Skyline": take over Grapeseed's historic McKinsey Airport hangar as your new base for illicit arms dealing. Additionally, playing the new version on recommended hardware will allow you to experience PC-exclusive ray tracing features, such as ambient occlusion and global illumination, as well as ray-traced shadows and reflections previously available on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Other updates include the addition of AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS technologies, support for the DualSense controller with adaptive triggers, faster loading of game content via SSD and DirectStorage technologies, support for higher resolutions, wider aspect ratios, and higher frame rates, support for Dolby Atmos enhanced audio, and improved voice, cinematic effects, and music fidelity.

Rockstar Games acquires the team behind private servers for Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar Games announced the acquisition of Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM (the player-run private server for Grand Theft Auto V) and RedM (the player-run private server for RedM for Red Blood II), anticipating a significant expansion of modding and customization possibilities. Cfx.re emphasized this as a major step forward for the player community, believing that with Rockstar Games' support, Grand Theft Auto V and Red Blood II will offer greater replayability and more flexibility for players in these open-world games. However, due to their existing partnership with Rockstar Games, Cfx.re stated they cannot disclose details of their new development projects at this time and urged players not to ask any questions about the next Grand Theft Auto game. Rockstar Games recently revealed they are already working on the next Grand Theft Auto game, but did not specify whether it is the long-rumored Grand Theft Auto VI. Meanwhile, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted at major announcements in fiscal year 2025 during the release of the latest quarterly financial report.

A large number of suspected early development videos of Grand Theft Auto VI have been exposed, and even the source code of Grand Theft Auto V has been sold.

Rockstar Games confirms early development content for the next Grand Theft Auto was stolen

Rockstar Games confirmed that early development content for their next Grand Theft Auto game was stolen, but emphasized that the theft will not affect the game's development schedule or cause damage to existing services such as GTA Online. According to the statement, development of the next Grand Theft Auto game will proceed as planned, and the company will provide updates as soon as possible. With a large amount of video content being posted on online forums and Twitter, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, has begun requesting the removal of the videos. However, the spread and sharing of some content has been faster than expected, and will undoubtedly have a significant impact. In addition to the extensive exposure of development footage for the next Grand Theft Auto game, hackers also claimed to have obtained original code for Grand Theft Auto V and planned to sell it for over $1. However, there seems to be no further news on this, and it is unclear whether a deal has been reached privately with Take-Two Interactive or Rockstar Games.
