Hasselblad Launches New Medium Format Camera: X2D II 100C, Featuring Faster Autofocus and World's Strongest Image Stabilization

Swedish camera brand Hasselblad has announced the new X2D II 100C, its second 100-megapixel medium format camera. Compared to its predecessor, it features comprehensive upgrades in autofocus and image quality, along with what is touted as the industry's strongest 10-stop image stabilization, and a more competitive price. The previous generation X2D 100C, while capable of producing detailed images, was technically conservative and lacked continuous autofocus. Hasselblad has finally addressed this shortcoming with the X2D II 100C, making it Hasselblad's first model to support AF-C phase-detection autofocus. Furthermore, through AI algorithms and LiDAR assistance, it significantly improves focusing accuracy in low-light conditions, making mobile shooting and continuous shooting (up to 3fps) no longer a problem. The new back-illuminated sensor also boasts 100-megapixel resolution, supports 16-bit RAW, and a dynamic range of up to 15.3 stops. The X2D II 100C is also the first medium format camera to support "true end-to-end HDR," effectively preventing overexposure, preserving more highlight detail, and offering Ultra HDR JPEG and HDR HEIF formats, allowing photographers to directly view the actual effect on the rear screen. Furthermore, the X2D II 100C's 5-axis in-body image stabilization system provides up to 10 stops of image compensation, surpassing the Fujifilm GFX100 II's 8 stops and the 8.5 stops of certain Canon models, making it the most powerful image stabilization system currently available. Hasselblad emphasizes that photographers can even "shoot several-second exposures handheld" without relying on a tripod, thus opening up more creative possibilities. The camera body and user experience have been improved. The body weight is 7.5% lighter than its predecessor, weighing approximately 730 grams without the lens. A redesigned grip with a non-slip texture enhances handling. The newly designed 3.6-inch screen boasts a peak brightness of 1400 nits, supports 90-degree upward tilt and 43-degree downward tilt, and features a new 5D joystick for easy focus point switching and menu access. Built-in 1TB storage remains a unique selling point, and it also includes a CFexpress Type B card slot. However, the X2D II 100C still does not support video recording, clearly positioning it as a pure still photography tool. ...

Fujifilm launches the GFX100 RF, a medium format camera featuring a slim-body lens system and a compact body.

Fujifilm's GFX100 RF medium format camera, featuring a lightweight lens system and a compact body, has announced its launch price in Taiwan.

Fujifilm recently announced the GFX100 RF, a medium format camera featuring a submerged lens system and a compact body design. Today (April 17th), the Taiwan distributor, Heng Chang, announced the price of this camera in Taiwan: NT$162,000. It will also be available in black and silver-black. The GFX100 RF uses a submerged lens system with an equivalent 28mm f/4 aperture, making the interchangeable lenses less obtrusive than those found on typical medium format cameras. This, combined with the compact design, further reduces the body size, weighing only 735 grams including the battery and memory card. The camera body is made of aluminum and features a 0.5-inch, 576 million-pixel OLED electronic viewfinder with 0.84x magnification. The back houses a 3.15-inch tilting touchscreen and dual SD card slots compatible with UHS-II and V90 storage standards. The battery is an NP-W235, the same as the GFX100S II, allowing for 802 consecutive still photos or 100 minutes of continuous video recording. The low-profile lens system, with an equivalent 28mm f/4 aperture, provides depth of field similar to a 35mm full-frame camera at f/2.8. The low-profile design effectively reduces the camera's weight. The minimum focusing distance is 20cm, and cropping allows for zoom effects equivalent to 45mm, 63mm, or 80mm focal lengths. It also features the highest 4-stop ND filter in the GFX series. The GFX100 RF features a leaf shutter that can trigger the flash at any shutter speed, up to 1/4000 second for the mechanical shutter and 1/16000 second for the electronic shutter. Continuous shooting speed reaches 6 frames per second. It utilizes hybrid autofocus with AI subject recognition to improve shooting speed for animals, birds, vehicles, bicycles, airplanes, trains, and more. Face detection and eye autofocus are also supported. For video recording, it supports high-resolution DCI 4K 30p 4:2:2 and F-Log2 format with 13 stops of dynamic range. Electronic image stabilization is supported during recording, and it can record in Apple ProRes format when connected to an external SSD via USB-C. The camera's user interface includes a top dial that allows you to adjust shutter speed and ISO sensitivity. It also supports up to 20 film filters, including 7 standard color film filters and 13 distinctive film filters. Furthermore, it can be combined with 9 image aspect ratios to create up to 180 different image styles.
