Nick Maguire, Sony's vice president of global sales, recently confirmed that testing has begun.PlayStation 5 game content available for streaming, while a Reddit forum user revealed that Sony has begun sending test invitations to specific players, and explained that the test content may be different from the actual version released in the future.
And from the players who have been invited to testdisplaySony has added a dedicated section for streaming game content to the PlayStation Plus service. By choosing to open any streaming game, it can be launched in seconds. The content includes "God of War: Ragnarok", "Horizon Forbidden West", "Fortnite", "Destiny 2" and "Death Stranding", etc. The picture quality can be adjusted inBetween 720p and 2160pSwitch.
If nothing unexpected happens, Sony's service will compete with Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass Ultimate cloud streaming service, but it is expected to be subject to content copyright and service usage location restrictions like the previous PlayStation Now service. Therefore, it may also be available only in specific markets and may not be available in all markets where the PlayStation Plus service is launched.
Although Sony previously stated that providing game content through subscription downloads and streaming is not practical, it is clear that Sony has not given up on such development possibilities in the market. It even recently announced the launch of a handheld product called Project Q, which will mainly allow players to play games on the PlayStation 5 via Wi-Fi connection, and may even allow players to use streaming service through Project Q in the future.
However, Sony has not yet confirmed the specific launch date of Project Q. It also stated that the service of streaming PlayStation 5 games is only in the early testing stage and there is no estimated time plan for the official service.
