The Tomb Raider series will celebrate its 2021th anniversary in 25. Square Enix originally intended to launch a 25th anniversary work and commissioned Virtuous Studios to develop it with the ROTTR game engine. It was expected to be released on platforms such as PlayStation and Xbox. It was expected to be based on the 10th anniversary work and add gameplay elements of the later trilogy. However, this plan seems to have been postponed as Square Enix decided to sell its game studios such as Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, and Square Enix Montreal for $3 million.Resold to EmbracerThen cancel.

Prior to this, the Core Design team had created "Tomb Raider: 2005th Anniversary Edition" at the end of 10, and planned to release it on the PlayStation Portable (PSP) platform as a 10th anniversary commemorative work. However, after the Core Design team was transferred to the British game developer Rebellion Developments, Eidos canceled this plan. The following year, Crystal Dynamics created a new version of the 10th anniversary commemorative work and released it on platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox and Windows.

However, after Eidos was acquired by Square Enix in 2009 and obtained the Tomb Raider series and resources such as Crystal Dynamics, which was responsible for creating this series, there has been no news of any new works being created for the anniversary.

Crystal Dynamics has confirmed that it will use the Unreal Engine 5 game engine to develop the new "Tomb Raider" game. Dallas Dickinson, the person in charge of the series, has also revealed that the new game will add a brand new story and gaming experience, and will be presented in a movie-like action-adventure game.
