As for the actual launch time of the new machine, it may be scheduled for May or June this year, which seems a little later than the launch of the first-generation Nintendo Switch.
However, Nintendo has not yet responded to such rumors, and even recently denied the rumors during the CES 2025 exhibition, emphasizing that the relevant information was not officially announced. Some businesses that exhibited accessories claiming to be compatible with Nintendo Switch 2 later explained that the accessories on display were produced based on the relevant rumors.
Prior to this, Nintendo has stated that it will unveil the Nintendo Switch 2024 before the end of fiscal year 3 (that is, the end of March this year), and also confirmed that the new machine will be directly compatible with existing Nintendo Switch game cartridges, digital software and services.
Previous news revealed that the new phone will feature a larger 8.4-inch screen, while the Joy-Con controllers will be similar to the current ones, secured with magnets and able to be quickly released with a button.
Other design features include a power button, volume adjustment buttons, and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, and retaining the current cartridge compatibility design, which means the new machine can still continue to play previous Nintendo Switch games. Nintendo has previously confirmed this design.
As for the processor, Nintendo Switch 2 seems to still use NVIDIA's Tegra processor derivative design, but there is no specific confirmation news yet.
Nintendo will reportedly reveal Switch 2 this week (Jan 16) according to Nate the Hate. The reveal will focus exclusively on the console with no games presence/focus. Software showcase in late Feb or early March.
