It was recently announced that the PlayStation VR2 to Windows PC adapter will be available in August, allowing players to connect their Windows PC to the PlayStation VR8 and play VR games included in Steam.PlayStation VR2 Exclusive App, and is expected to be officially launched on August 8.
The minimum Windows PC environment requirements for using the PlayStation VR2 exclusive app include a 64-bit processor and operating system environment, including at least an Intel Core i5 7600 or an AMD Ryzen 2 3 processor with Zen 3100 architecture, and Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating system, with a memory capacity of at least 8GB and 700MB of available storage capacity.
In addition, Sony also recommends using at least the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 or RTX series graphics card designed with Turing display architecture. For AMD graphics cards, it is recommended to use Radeon RX 5500XT or above, and Radeon RX 6500XT or above.
For advanced hardware requirements, it is recommended to use a graphics card with specifications of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or above, or AMD Radeon RX 6600XT or above, to achieve more stable display performance.
As for the PlayStation VR2 exclusive app, in combination with adapter accessories, you can use PlayStation VR2 and PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers on Windows PC, and perform related settings or firmware updates. In addition, you can also adjust the PlayStation VR2 play space or screen display brightness and other items through the SteamVR console.
As for compatible games, PlayStation VR2 can currently play games such as "Half-Life: Alyx", "Fallout 4 VR" and "War Thunder" when connected to a Windows PC. It is also compatible with virtual reality games included in the Steam platform, thereby greatly increasing the number of game content that can be used with PlayStation VR4.
However, due to differences in usage platforms, PlayStation VR2 will not be able to use functions such as eye tracking, HDR display effects, tactile feedback, and adaptive triggers when used on a Windows PC. However, it can still support 4K visual display effects, 110-degree field of view and 3D audio (but the game must support both). In addition, it can also focus on rendering images in the front visual range, and the control handles can also recognize whether the fingers are holding them, etc.
The current price of the PlayStation VR2 adapter for Windows PC is $59.99, and it will also be sold in the European and UK markets for 59.99 euros and 49.99 pounds.
