Earlier, before the official opening of Gamescom 2022, Sony announced the launch of a new wireless controller, DualSense Edge. It adds two sets of function keys extending to the back of the bottom of the left and right analog joysticks, and can record 5 sets of customized setting data.
From the perspective of positioning, it is obvious that Sony hopes to follow Microsoft's approach in creating the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller, by creating its own wireless controller suitable for players and adding more convenient customization functions to make game operations more convenient for players.
Visually, the DualSense Edge is very similar to the previously released DualSense, with the main difference being the addition of two additional sets of function buttons on the bottom, which are removable and can store five sets of custom settings. The connection and charging port also use USB-C, and a carrying case and USB charging accessories are included. The controller also comes in black and white, but it's unclear whether other colors will be added in the future.
Sony has not yet announced the specific price and launch information of DualSense Edge, but it is expected to announce more details of DualSense Edge in the coming months.
