OnRelated instructions pageIn the announcement, Sony stated that it will no longer provide adapter accessories that allow PlayStation Camera to be connected to PlayStation 5, which means that its virtual visual interactive games will be fully switched to use mainly with PlayStation VR2.
Before the release of PlayStation VR2, if players wanted to continue playing PlayStation VR platform games on PlayStation 5, they had to use an adapter to enable the PlayStation Camera to be used on PlayStation 5, so that the first-generation PlayStation VR could work with the PlayStation Camera.
However, after the launch of PlayStation VR2, since it only needs to be connected to the PlayStation 5 via a USB-C interface for use, and its operation method is different from the first-generation PlayStation VR, it is not possible to directly use the camera accessories natively compatible with the PlayStation 5 with the first-generation PlayStation VR.
Early games compatible with the first-generation PlayStation VR cannot be used directly on PlayStation VR2. Therefore, after announcing the end of providing adapter accessories that allow PlayStation Camera to connect to PlayStation 5, it also means that Sony's focus on the development of virtual visual applications will be on PlayStation VR2, and the first-generation PlayStation VR will gradually fade out of the market.
However, since there are still many third-party companies on the market that continue to sell related adapter accessories, the first-generation PlayStation VR will not be unusable on PlayStation 5 too soon for the time being.
