Previously built under the new Airpeak brandProfessional drone productsLater, Sony announced that it would expand its α-brand camera technology to the drone application market and launchILX-LR1 full-frame camera, and can also be used for aerial photography with A-mount lenses.
The ILX-LR1 weighs just under 250 grams and can be mounted on most professional-grade large drones. It uses the same 7-megapixel back-illuminated sensor as the α7R IV and α6100R V, corresponding to ISO 100 to 32000 sensitivity values, supports a maximum continuous shooting speed of 3 frames per second, and also has XAVC S 4K video recording function, mainly used for aerial recording. At the same time, Sony will also open the remote control function, allowing more industries to integrate this function into software functions.
Since it is designed for aerial photography, the ILX-LR1 removes non-essential components such as the viewfinder, LCD screen, and hot shoe, and eliminates the battery slot and battery components. It is powered directly by the drone and only requires a voltage of 10-18V to operate. Only the necessary operation setting buttons are retained. The body is reduced to 100 x 74 x 42.5mm in size and weighs 243 grams.
As for the storage medium, it uses an SD memory card. It has micro HDMI and USB-C connection ports, and can use A-mount lenses for shooting as needed.
The ILX-LR1 will be available through Sony and authorized distributors from the end of November this year for a suggested retail price of US$11.
