Sony earlierAnnounceSony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan will step down in March 2024, and his position will be temporarily taken over by Sony Group President and Chief Operating Officer Hiroki Totoki.
Jim Ryan has worked in the Sony system for more than 30 years. He first joined the then Sony Computer Entertainment Europe in 1994 and was promoted to President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Since 2018, he has been transferred to the position of Vice President and Head of Global Sales and Marketing of Sony Interactive Entertainment. The following year, he took over Andrew House's position and became CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.
In this personnel change, Sony announced that Jim Ryan will retire at the end of March 2024 for personal reasons. His position will be temporarily assumed by Sony Group Chief Operating Officer Hiroki Totoki, who is expected to be appointed as Chairman of Sony Interactive Entertainment starting in October 3. He will work with CEO Kenichiro Yoshida to drive the future development of the PlayStation brand.
As for Hiroki Totoki, 58, he joined Sony in 1987 and has led Sony Network Communications and Sony Entertainment. Later, he was responsible for promoting Sony's development strategy and transformation development matters. In 2021, he served as Vice President and CFO of Sony Group. In February this year, he was promoted to President of Sony Group and concurrently served as Chief Operating Officer.
