At the beginning of this year, the company officially unveiled its professional drone brandairpeakAfter the first product, Sony officially announced that the first drone will beAir Peak S1It also confirmed that the suggested retail price will be US$9000.
Airpeak S1 is mainly targeted at the professional and specific demand markets. The bottom gimbal can be used with Sony's α series cameras and FX series photographic equipment.
Many hardware details of the Airpeak S1 have been announced previously, such as its quad-rotor design and anti-collision bar design to prevent damage to the rotor mechanism if the drone accidentally falls. During landing, the anti-collision bar will be lowered and serve as a tripod to allow the drone to be parked stably and prevent the bottom-loaded camera from directly hitting the ground. Sony has announced that this drone will have a flight time of about 12 minutes, and the flight time can reach 22 minutes without a camera.
As for wind resistance, it can maintain stable flight in winds of 44.7 mph (20 meters per second), which is about twice as fast as DJI's professional drone Inspire 2. It can also automatically avoid obstacles with the help of the drone's five sets of cameras and infrared rangefinder, and can maintain stable operation even without satellite positioning assistance.
Users can operate the Airpeak S1 via the remote control or through the Airpeak Flight App for iOS and iPadOS. One person can be responsible for flying while the other can operate the camera function.
