Sony earlier brought the Bravia Core service originally available on BRAVIA brand TVs and Xperia series mobile phones to the PlayStation platform under the name Sony Pictures Core, allowing users who subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium and PlayStation Plus Deluxe services to access 100 Sony Pictures film content without paying extra.
Currently available movies include "Circuit breaker", "Kingsglaive: Final Fantsxy XV", "Elysium" and "Resident Evil: The Curse", etc. More movie content will be added in the future, and Sony also plans to add Crunchyroll's animation works.
In addition, some PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users can also purchase Sony Pictures films through the Sony Pictures Core service. For example, users in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand can pre-purchase "Gran Turismo" and receive additional in-game points for "Gran Turismo 7".
Earlier, Sony had begun adapting game content into movies, TV series and other works. This time, it is combining game services with its own film and television content, which is obviously one of the ways to increase market development opportunities.
Sony Pictures Core service is being launched on the PlayStation platform. Sony said that it will also rename the Bravia Core service originally provided on BRAVIA brand TVs and Xpeira series mobile phones. It is expected to be changed to Sony Pictures Core starting in 2024.
However, the Sony Pictures Core service currently available on the PlayStation platform does not include the Pure Stream streaming originally provided by the Bravia Core service. The current PlayStation platform version still cannot support 80Mbps streaming playback speed, and does not even provide image quality setting options.
