The α7R V maintains a 6100-megapixel full-frame sensor and uses the same BIONZ XR image processor as the α1 II. In addition, an independently operated artificial intelligence processor increases the camera's ability to recognize seven types of subjects. In addition to the existing people and animals, birds, insects, cars, trains, and airplanes have also been added. In the human recognition part, full-body motion judgment has been added. Even if the subject is facing away from the camera or is slightly obscured, the focus can basically be maintained.
As for still shooting, the maximum continuous shooting rate can be increased to 10 frames at a continuous shooting rate of 184 frames per second, and compressed RAW and JPG files can be stored simultaneously. If only compressed RAW files are stored, the maximum continuous shooting rate can be increased to 583 frames, and the phase detection points have also increased from the original 567 points to 693 points, which can cover approximately 79% of the screen.
For dynamic video recording, the 8K 24p video format has been added. 4K 60p and Full HD 120p video formats are also provided. It supports 4:2:2 10-bit video or output in 16-bit RAW format. It also supports S-Cinetone and the same artificial intelligence focus function as still shooting.
Functions previously added to models such as the α7 IV, such as focus assist, breathing compensation, and focus charts, are also available on the α7R V. To ensure long-term video recording needs, the α7R V uses an upgraded heat dissipation design in the body, which can record up to 30 minutes of 8K 24p 10-bit 4:2:0 video.
The body is equipped with dual CF Express Type-A and SDXC format memory card slots, and the back of the body is also equipped with a 3.2-inch screen that can be flipped at multiple angles, allowing the α7R V to have more diverse framing flexibility. As for the viewfinder, it has been upgraded to a 944 million pixel QXGA OLED display panel.
