Sony earlierAnnounceSeveral personnel changes for the new fiscal year, expected to take effect on April 4, include the current Group CEO Kenichiro Yoshida being transferred to the position of Director, Representative Executive Director and Chairman, and the future Group CEO being succeeded by the current Group President, CFO and COO Hiroki Totoki. Sony Interactive Entertainment will have Hideaki Nishino, one of the former co-CEOs and CEO of the Platform Business Group, promoted to President and CEO, while Herman Hulst will continue to lead Sony Interactive Entertainment's global game studios.
Other personnel changes include Sony Semiconductor's current representative director, president and CEO Teruji Shimizu, who will become chairman, and Shinji Sashida will take over the CEO position in the future.
This adjustment also includes renaming the CEO of the main business to "Business CEO" (ビジネスCEO), and the personnel who assist the CEO in overseeing the management of the entire group and handling various headquarters functions will be named "Chief Executive" (チーフオフィサー). As for the executives in charge of various functions at the group headquarters, they will be named "Corporate Executives."
The current "chief executive" team includes Chief Strategy Officer Toshimoto Mikoto, Chief Digital Officer Tsuyoshi Kodera, Chief Human Resources Officer Yasuhiro Ito, and new Chief Financial Officer Tao Lin, while Hiroaki Kitano will serve as chief technical researcher.
After being promoted to CEO of Sony Group, Hiroki Totoki expressed his intention to work with Sony's approximately 11 employees to achieve future development and growth challenges. He also expects to take over the Sony Group led by Kazuo Hirai and Kenichiro Yoshida, and will do his utmost to inherit and develop the company.
